The roller coaster that has been Corona Virus seems to finally be slowing down. For many industries, this “beer flu” has taken a  toll on their business. The Promo & Event world has been hit especially hard as we all know that the in-person interactions are what we rely on.

But what does the future look like for us? We’ve been hearing about brand ambassador opportunities slowly popping up again (hooray!!).  Our team at Norton National wanted to get the skinny on what we should all expect. Big events are still a rarity, but in-store tastings are coming back. We spoke with Rebekah Ruiz (Tampa, FL) and Tawn McNell (Kansas City, MO)  who have both worked post-quarantine, about their experience and here’s the 411:

Masks

They are a must now! Put a nice neutral colored mask right next to your black pants and khakis in your promo closet. If you’re wearing a mask day in and day out, your ears might take a beating. Consider getting a mask that ties instead of one with elastic. We know wearing a mask isn’t ideal, but think of all the money you’ll save on lipstick *wink*.

Give Them Space

We all know the 6ft apart rule (or 5ft apart if you want a good cry and to gaze upon the glory that is Cole Sprouse for 2 hours *sigh*). Try to maintain the distance between you and the consumer, especially if the masks are coming off to taste. Rebekah says that after she gives out a sample, she’ll step even further away to give the customer extra peace of mind.

Sanitize, Sanitize, Sanitize!

Lysol wipes are coming back in stock, so let’s use ‘em! During downtime, wipe down everything. This might seem overkill, but we’d rather be safe than sicky. Plus, those who are being extra careful about distancing might be given the confidence to approach your sample stand if they see you keeping yours so fresh and so clean, clean!

Set Your Priorities

Photos are super important in our industry, but remember that your duties come first. You might not have as much time for photos with how often you might be required to change gloves and sanitize. Get a great picture as soon as you set up so you don’t have to worry about it later.

Keep Your Expectations in Line

The fear of catching Old ‘Rona might dissuade many people from approaching, but don’t take it personally! Tawn said that “about 10% sampled which is low for me, [I] usually get 75% to sample at demos.”

In the words of Rebekah, “There is definitely still an industry for us out there we just have to be more aware and adapt.” Keep your head up and your attitude positive during post-quarantine promos! We hope these tips help!
