Flyer drops have become one of Norton National’s favorite and most common marketing tools to provide to clients. Between creating a unique location list for each event, to interacting with local Las Vegas businesses, flyer drops are a great marketing tool for a multitude of different events. Check out our do’s and don’ts list to help you achieve a successful marketing campaign!

When taking pictures of locations, not only should pictures be taken of where the flyers are placed, but also the outside of the business. Uptown Jungle is a great example of how to capture the outside of the building, with the business name clear and easy to read. On the other hand, the nameless picture needs some work. Ensure to avoid capturing images of exterior buildings that do not have a name or logo displayed. If you come across this issue, ask for the company’s business card or brochure. With the right lighting and angles, hold the card or brochure up with the building as your background. By having the contact information visible, the client will have confirmation of a successful distribution location for their event marketing.

Next, let’s take a look into where to place flyers in stores, and how to document their location. Flyer visibility is important to intrigue shoppers to take one. Strategically placing them at the checkout counter, or any major point of sale location is a prime option. While waiting for that obnoxious chip reader to work, the flyer has a moment to catch the eye of the customer.

The below pictures are examples of “don’ts” when capturing flyer placement. Avoid poor lighting, blurriness, and a lack of showing where flyers are placed in-store when taking photos. Check out the photo on the top right. For all we know, that could literally be your kitchen counter.

Below are examples of “do’s” when capturing images. Placement, bright lighting, and clean area are preferred photos. Place flyers in high traffic areas and capture the overall room to showcase.

Lastly, remember the flyers are representing the brand and the clients. When entering a building: smile, have manners, give a brief description of the promotion, and dress to the standard of what the client requested. Basically, just be a pleasant, upright, human being and you’ll do just fine. Walking in with low energy, a mumbling voice, and little information won’t get you far in these types of promotions.

After officially deciding where and when flyers are going to be placed for a marketing campaign (check out “Selecting Locations for Flyer Drops” here), the importance of knowing the client’s expectations are crucial. The POP (proof of performance) report will reflect who, what, where, and how flyers were distributed. By using these above tips, you’ll be on the perfect track to a successful flyer drop.
