Being #VegasStrong is not just a saying, but a lifestyle. The Las Vegas community has proved time and time again, that we are resilient as heck!

As the valley grows, so do our values about supporting local businesses. Not too long ago, Vegas natives valued chains over everything. Now, both locals and tourists have allowed small businesses to flourish.

This city has endured plenty of hardship, and the Covid-19 pandemic is no different. In a time where Amazon and UberEats are making bank, we have to consider our “ma and pa shops”. Working for a small business means that supporting our local entrepreneurs is just as important to us as making sure The Golden Knights make it to the NHL playoffs!

Here are only a few of the many reasons why you should shop locally, not just in Las Vegas, but everywhere.

Do it for the community!

For every $100 spent at a local small business, $68 will stay in the community. When you spend $100 at a national chain only $43 stays in the community. *

Do it for the kids!

Shopping locally creates more local jobs, which means more taxpayers, therefore, means more money for teachers, parks, and essential services. In other words, shop locally for our youth!

Do it for charity!

Studies have shown that local businesses donate to community causes twice the rate of corporate chains. Performing a good deed just got a whole lot easier by purchasing locally.

Do it for some pizazz!

Add a little flavor to the community! Supporting local restaurants and/or shops brings a special atmosphere to your town that can’t be found anywhere else. This could also attract travelers to swing on by and contribute to the economic growth of your local community.

Do it for our planet!

Small businesses tend to be physically smaller locations. They take up less land, carry more local products, and create less traffic and air pollution. Do you hear that? Mother Nature is asking to “Help a girl out!”.

Do it for your own wallet!

If shopping locally for the kids didn’t convince you; shopping locally also lowers taxes! More efficient land use puts less demand on roads and safety and they generate more tax revenue per sales dollar. Ultimately, you are saving money by shopping locally. *

There are countless reasons why shopping at small local businesses is beneficial for everyone involved. Coronavirus stirred up people who wanted to start shopping locally, but it should end there.

Continue to support small businesses to create a better future for our community and our world. 🙂
